Sempre fedele alla mia passione per la serie animata “Neon Genesis Evangelion”, sono costantemente a caccia di merchandising in grado di dimostrare al mondo intero la mia incondizionata devozione per Shikinami Asuka Langley, il mio personaggio preferito di questo famoso Anime. Ho già acquistato innumerevoli prodotti dedicati al pilota dell’EVA 02. A dimostrazione di tale affermazione, basti citare le due T-shirt comprate nell’Evangelion Store Tokyo-01 durante il viaggio in Giappone del 2019, la maglietta “What Kind of Idiot Are You?” e il porta PASMO entrambi prodotti da Cospa, nonché la minifugure  “Shikinami Asuka Langley Figuarts Mini” di Tamashii Nations/Bandai. Date queste premesse, non potevo certo perdermi lo  “Shikinami Asuka Langley Cushion Cover” oggetto del presente articolo.

“Neon Genesis Evangelion” di Hideaki Anno, opera nata con la serie animata televisiva del 1992, ha subito negli anni innumerevoli evoluzioni culminate con la saga cinematografica “Rebuild of Evangelion” (o “Shin Evangelion”) il cui quarto ed ultimo film è giunto nei cinema nipponici giusto quest’anno.  Ciò che più mi affascina dell’opera sono i personaggi. La caratterizzazione nonché l’evoluzione dei protagonisti nel corso della serie ha davvero pochi eguali nel panorama animato nipponico. Fra di essi, il mio personaggio preferito è certamente Shikinami Asuka Langley, pilota dell’EVA 02, eroina dalla psicologia complessissima, tanto forte nell’apparenza quanto fragilissima nell’intimo.

Ho già avuto modo in diverse occasioni di elogiare la qualità dei prodotti Cospa ma raramente questa società nipponica ha commercializzato articoli come il cuscino in oggetto. Se non bastasse tale motivo a giustificare il mio pronto acquisto sulla piattaforma di shopping on line “Hobby Link Japan”, segnalo che l’immagine di Asuka è splendidamente riprodotta sulla stoffa. Ogni dettaglio del disegno originale è rispettato, senza difetti o sbavature di alcun tipo. Il personaggio, inoltre, è rappresentato con un outfit fra i più iconici mostrati nei film cinematografici, dettaglio che aumenta non poco il pregio dell’illustrazione riprodotta.

Nella confezione dello “Shikinami Asuka Langley Cushion Cover” è presenta la sola fodera. L’imbottitura deve essere acquistata a parte ma non si tratta di una difficoltà insormontabile. Per fortuna, le misure della fodera sono uno standard 45×45 centimetri. E’, quindi, sufficiente recarsi in un negozio di articoli casalinghi per trovare un’imbottitura adeguata ed ottenere il tanto agognato cuscino.

Cuscino che è andato subito ad impreziosire il divano posto nell’Anime Corner del mio salotto.

Ever faithful to my passion for “Neon Genesis Evangelion” animated series, I am constantly on the hunt for merchandise that can demonstrate to whole world my unconditional devotion to Shikinami Asuka Langley, my favourite character from this famous Anime. I have already purchased countless products dedicated to the pilot of EVA 02. To prove this claim, suffice it to mention two T-shirts bought at the Evangelion Store Tokyo-01 during the 2019 Japan trip, the “What Kind of Idiot Are You?“ T-shirt and PASMO holder both produced by Cospa, as well as the “Shikinami Asuka Langley Figuarts Mini” mini-fugure by Tamashii Nations/Bandai. Given these premises, I certainly couldn’t miss the “Shikinami Asuka Langley Cushion Cover” which is the subject of this article.

Hideaki Anno’s “Neon Genesis Evangelion“, a work born with the 1992 animated television series, has undergone countless evolutions over the years, culminating with the film saga “Rebuild of Evangelion” (or “Shin Evangelion“), whose fourth and final film arrived in Japanese cinemas just this year.  What fascinates me most about the film are the characters. The characterisation as well as the evolution of the main characters during the series has very few equals in the Japanese animated scene. Among them, my favourite character is certainly Shikinami Asuka Langley, pilot of the EVA 02, a heroine with a very complex psychology, as strong in appearance as she is very fragile inside.

I have already had the opportunity on several occasions to praise the quality of Cospa products but rarely this Japanese company has marketed items like the pillow in question. If this reason was not enough to justify my prompt purchase on the online shopping platform ‘Hobby Link Japan‘, I would like to point out that the image of Asuka is beautifully reproduced. Every detail of the original design is respected, without flaws or smudges of any kind. Moreover, the character is represented with one of the most iconic outfits shown in the movies, a detail that increases the value of the illustration.

In the package of the “Shikinami Asuka Langley Cushion Cover” there is only the cover. The padding has to be purchased separately, but this is not an insurmountable difficulty. Fortunately, the measurements of the cover are a standard 45×45 centimetres. It is therefore sufficient to go to a household goods shop to find suitable padding and obtain the much-needed cushion.
