Come dimostrato dagli articoli “Val D’Intelvi – Bike Tour 19 giugno 2024” e “Campo dei Fiori – Bike Tour 28 giugno 2024”, l’estate 2024 è stata occasione per portare a compimento vari giri in bici da troppo tempo rimandati. Non fa eccezione l’anello percorso partendo da Biella fatto mercoledì, 10 luglio, in compagnia dell’amico Roberto. Il compleanno di quest’ultimo è stato adeguato pretesto per l’impresa e giustificazione più che sufficiente per prendere un giorno di ferie da passare insieme.

Partiti la mattina presto con la mia amata Opel “Mokka” col portabici della Thule caricato non solo con la mia Atala a pedalata assistita ma anche con la Gravel di Roberto nuova di zecca, siamo arrivati a Biella verso le otto del mattino. Scaricare le bici nel parcheggio della stazione, siamo partiti in direzione ovest fino ai sobborghi di Andrate da cui abbiamo iniziato una lenta ma costante risalita verso est che ci ha portati fino al Santuario di Oropa. Da qui, dopo un bel pranzo presso la Trattoria Nocca, siamo scesi a Biella in una lunga volata che ci ha portati in centro città per un aperitivo prima di tornare a casa.

Benché non sia nuovo alla scoperta del Biellese in bici (basti far riferimento ai giri raccontati in “Bike Tour Santuario Oropa – San Giovanni D’Andorno” e “Bike Tour “Panoramica Zegna” – Giugno 2023”), le mie precedenti peregrinazioni si erano concentrate sull’area a ovest del Santuario di Oropa. Spingersi ad est di quest’ultimo è stata, quindi, un’esperienza del tutto nuova. Il percorso seguito si è sviluppato su un dislivello pari a 1.400 metri che, partendo da Biella a 400 metri di altitudine, ha avuto apice ai 1.200 metri del Santuario. Non abbiamo, quindi, attraversato zone d’alta montagna come nei due tour sopra indicati ma i paesaggi non sono stati meno suggestivi grazie ad ampi boschi, numerosi borghi ed una bella vista sulla pianura sottostante. Il panorama è stato spesso impreziosito da una visuale chiara e ben distinguibile della Serra, il maestoso anfiteatro morenico creato da un antichissimo ghiacciaio due milioni di anni fa.

Sono convinto che le foto sopra mostrate offrano una prova tangibile del bel giro fatto con l’amico Roberto e la grande soddisfazione di entrambi per la realizzazione di un progetto lungamente discusso e desiderato.

As proved by the articles “Val D’Intelvi – Bike Tour 19 June 2024” and “Campo dei Fiori – Bike Tour 28 June 2024“, summer 2024 was an opportunity to complete various bike tours that had been postponed for too long. The ring traveled starting from Biella on Wednesday, July 10, in the company of my friend Roberto, is no exception. The latter’s birthday was an adequate pretext for the feat and more than enough justification to take a day off to spend together.

We left early in the morning with my beloved Opel “Mokka“ with the Thule bike rack loaded not only with my  pedal-assisted Atala but also with  Roberto’s brand new Gravel, we arrived in Biella around eight in the morning. Unloading the bikes in the parking near the station, we set off westwards until the suburbs of Andrate from where we began a slow but steady ascent eastwards that took us to the Sanctuary of Oropa. From here, after a nice lunch at the Trattoria Nocca, we went down to Biella in a long sprint that took us to the city center for an aperitif before returning home.

Although I am not new to discovering the Biella area by bike (just refer to the tours told in “Bike Tour Santuario Oropa – San Giovanni D’Andorno” and “Bike Tour “Panoramica Zegna” – June 2023“), my previous trips had focused on the area west of the Sanctuary of Oropa. Going east of the latter was, therefore, a completely new experience. The route followed developed on a difference in height of 1,400 meters which, starting from Biella at 400 meters above sea level, culminated at 1,200 meters of the Sanctuary. We did not, therefore, cross high mountain areas as in the two tours indicated above but the landscapes were no less evocative thanks to large woods, numerous villages and a beautiful view of the plain below. The panorama has often been embellished by a clear and clearly distinguishable view of  the Serra, the majestic morainic amphitheater created by an ancient glacier two million years ago.

I am convinced that the photos shown above offer tangible proof of the beautiful tour made with my friend Roberto and the great satisfaction of both for the realization of a long-discussed and desired project.
