Nell’ormai lontano 29 aprile 2021, pubblicai un articolo dedicato al set di miniature “C-style Petit Eva Summer! Swim Wear!”, parte dell’immenso merchandising dedicato alla serie “Neon Genesis Evangelion”. Il progetto era di usare i personaggi di Asuka e Mari per realizzare un piccolo diorama. Benché vendute già assemblate e colorate, era mia intenzione ridipingere integralmente le due miniature per migliorarne la resa estetica. Il lavoro era simile a quello fatto sul figurino di Ikaru Ikijo per il VF-1S “Strike Valkyrie” SD ma, a differenza di quest’ultimo, ridipingendo anche la pelle sia per ottenere una maggiore naturalezza sia per simulare l’abbronzatura acquisita dai personaggi giocando a Beach Volley.

Nonostante i miei buoni propositi, i tempi di realizzazione sono stati lunghissimi. Pessimo ruolo ha giocato anche una mia prolungata indolenza e desiderio di dedicarmi ad altri soggetti. Detestando di lasciare un lavoro modellistico a metà, ho tenuto duro ed il risultato è quello che vedete in questa pagina.

Non descrivo nel dettaglio i lavori svolti. Mi limito a fare un confronto fra i personaggi prima e dopo la ricolorazione così che possano notarsi le differenze.

Nel complesso penso di aver fatto un buon lavoro dando alle due miniature un valore aggiunto notevole ed una pregevolezza inaspettata per questo tipo di soggetti. Credo che l’incarnato sia venuto particolarmente bene anche nel compito di dare l’impressione di un colorito più accesso della pelle a causa di un primo accenno di abbronzatura.

Contestualmente ai figurini, ho anche dipinto qualche elemento destinato ad arricchire il diorama come, ad esempio, l’essenziale palla (con l’effige di Sachiel, l’iconico terzo Angelo mostrato nella serie “Neon Genesis Evangelion”) con cui le protagoniste giocano a Beach Volley e un’anguria spaccata a metà che vuole rappresentare l’estate nelle sue forme più piacevoli.

On 29 April 2021, I published an article dedicated to the miniature set “C-style Petit Eva Summer! Swim Wear!“, part of the immense merchandise dedicated to the “Neon Genesis Evangelion” series. The plan was to use Asuka and Mari’s characters to make a small diorama. Although they were sold already assembled and coloured, it was my intention to repaint the two miniatures in their entirety to improve their look. The work was similar to that done on Ikaru Ikijo‘s figurine for the VF-1S ‘Strike Valkyrie’ SD but, unlike the latter, I was also repainting the skin both to obtain a more natural look and to simulate the tan acquired by the characters playing Beach Volley.

Despite my good intentions, completion times were very long. My prolonged indolence and desire to devote myself to other subjects also played a bad role. Hating to leave a modelling job half-finished, I held on and the result is what you see on this page.

I will not describe the work in detail. I will just make a comparison between the characters before and after recolouring so that you can see the differences.

I think I did a good job, giving the two miniatures a remarkable added value and an unexpected preciousness for this type of subjects. I think the skin tone also came out particularly well in the task of giving the impression of a brighter skin tone due to a first hint of tan.

At the same time as the figurines, I also painted a few elements intended to enrich the diorama such as, for example, the essential ball (with the effigy of Sachiel, the iconic third Angel shown in the series “Neon Genesis Evangelion”) with which the protagonists play Beach Volley and a watermelon split in half intended to represent summer in its most pleasant forms.
