Il 2022 è iniziato con una piccola rivoluzione personale. Dopo sette anni di onorata carriera, ho deciso di mettere a riposo la mia adorata e fedele Fiat 500 giallo sole pastello. Ciò non significa che l’ho venduta. Più correttamente, è andata in pensione. Ho, infatti, comprato una Opel “Mokka” che, per i prossimi anni, mi accompagnerà nella vita di tutti i giorni e nelle mie principali scorribande cicloturistiche. La Fiat 500 resterà parcheggiata nel box per un uso più limitato. L’iniziativa è certamente antieconomica ma la valutazione per l’eventuale permuta era di un valore che non considerava l’ottimo stato dell’auto. Ho, quindi, preferito tenermi la Fiat 500 per godermela ancora qualche anno e, in futuro, vederla ad un appassionato come me o disporne la permuta. Ciò premesso, la mia bellissima “Chicca” è ora destinata ad un uso strettamente goliardico fra cui rientrano anche i raduni di Fiat 500.

Tramite i social, sono venuto a conoscenza del 18° “Raduno delle Palme” Fiat 500 (storiche e moderne) organizzato dal Club SINC-SENT Mantova a San Benedetto Po, domenica 10 aprile.

Prese alcune informazioni preliminari, sono partito presto la mattina di domenica e sono arrivato a San Benedetto Po verso le nove e mezza. La piazza centrale era già colma di auto storiche e Fiat 500 di ogni tipo e, fatte le pratiche di iscrizione, mi sono divertito a curiosare fra le auto ammirando gli esemplari più particolari e scambiando due chiacchiere con i proprietari.

Alle dieci in punto è partito un lungo corteo di un centinaio di auto (fra cui la mia “Chicca”) che, costeggiando il fiume Po, è arrivato alla Rocca di Quistello per un aperitivo offerto dall’organizzazione. Il giro è proseguito fino al ristorante dove i partecipanti hanno potuto pranzare tutti insieme chiudendo così una bella e divertente giornata.

Il mio primo raduno di Fiat 500 ha certamente rappresentato un’esperienza più che positiva. Mi sono divertito molto a guidare la “Chicca” per i paesi del Mantovano circondato da Fiat 500 storiche di cui sono ammiratore incondizionato da sempre. E’ stato anche interessante confrontarmi con i proprietari di tali auto. Ciò mi ha permesso di comprendere le problematiche insite nel possedere e guidare auto tanto vecchie e non costruite per durare nel tempo. Mi auguro mi ricapiterà presto di partecipare ad un altro raduno che accetti anche le nuove Fiat 500 come la mia.

The year 2022 began with a small personal revolution. After seven years of an honored career, I have decided to put my beloved and faithful yellow Fiat 500 to rest. This does not mean I have sold it. More correctly, it has been retired. I have, in fact, bought an Opel “Mokka” that, for the next years, will accompany me in my daily life and in my main cycling raids. The Fiat 500 will remain parked in the garage for more limited use. The initiative is certainly uneconomical but the evaluation for the possible sale did not consider the excellent condition of the car. I therefore preferred to keep the Fiat 500 to enjoy it for a few more years. That said, my beautiful “Chicca” is now destined to a strictly goliardic use, including Fiat 500 meetings.

Through social networks, I learned about the 16th “Raduno delle Palme” Fiat 500 meeting (historical and modern) organized by Club SINC-SENT Mantova in San Benedetto Po, Sunday, April 10.

Having taken some preliminary information, I left early on Sunday morning and arrived in San Benedetto Po around 9:30. The central square was already full of historic cars and Fiat 500s of all kinds, and after I had done the registration procedures, I had fun browsing through the cars, admiring the most particular versions and chatting with their owners.

At ten o’clock, a long procession of about a hundred cars (including my “Chicca“) left the square and, following the Po River, arrived at the Rocca di Quistello for an aperitif offered by the organization. The tour continued to the restaurant where the participants could have lunch all together, thus closing a beautiful and funny day.

My first Fiat 500 meeting was certainly a more than positive experience. I had a lot of fun driving my “Chicca” surrounded by historic Fiat 500s of which I have always been an unconditional admirer. It was also interesting to meet the owners of these cars. This allowed me to understand the problems inherent in owning and driving such old cars. I hope that I will soon be able to participate in another meeting that also accepts new Fiat 500s like mine.
