Due settimane dopo la bellissima gita sul Monte Resegone con destinazione il Rifugio Luigi Azzoni a 1.860 metri d’altezza, gli amici del CAI (Club Alpino Italiano) mi hanno coinvolto in un altro trekking che ha conquistato il mio cuore. Sabato 20 novembre, partendo presto la mattina, sono arrivato in Liguria per incontrarmi con tutti gli altri presso il parcheggio del Ristorante “La Nuvola sul Mare” – nome assai appropriato considerato il proseguo della giornata. Da qui abbiamo preso un sentiero che, disegnando un grande anello di circa 17 chilometri, ci ha portati al Rifugio Argentea e, poi, in vetta al Monte Rama, a 1.150 metri d’altezza. L’esperienza è stata particolarmente positiva per due fattori principali. In primo luogo, non ero mai stato sugli Appennini Liguri. L’ambiente che vi ho trovato mi ha colpito molto fin dal panorama visibile dalla strada percorsa in auto per arrivare al punto di raduno. Mi è stato riferito che la Strada Statale 73 è fra le più belle dell’entroterra ligure e non ho ragione di credere il contrario tant’è che intendo ripercorrerla in bicicletta non appena mi sarà possibile. Infine, sono state le condizioni atmosferiche della giornata a contribuire in modo decisivo alla mia assoluta fascinazione per i luoghi visitati. Tutto il percorso ha offerto un panorama incredibile: alle nostre spalle, il cielo terso permetteva di abbracciare con lo sguardo tutto l’arco alpino innevato mentre di fronte, poco sotto di noi, la costa e tutto il mare erano coperti da una distesa di nuvole basse. Arrivati in cima la Monte Rama, l’effetto creatosi era incredibile, tanto da avere l’impressione di essere a bordo di un aereo a qualche migliaio di metri di quota.

Sulla via del ritorno, il tramonto non è stato da meno grazie al mare di nuvole che, spinto dall’aria, è salito di quota inondando l’altopiano su cui camminavamo.

Insomma, questo trekking è stato impegnativo ma foriero di molte più sorprese di quanto mi aspettassi. Non solo, mi ha aperto la mente sulle bellezze dell’entroterra ligure che spero di tornare a vistare al più presto.

Two weeks after the beautiful trip upon top of Monte Resegone, at an altitude of 1,860 metres, the friends of the CAI (Club Alpino Italiano) involved me in another trek that won my heart. On Saturday 20 November, leaving early in the morning, I arrived in Liguria to meet up with all the others at the car park of the restaurant “La Nuvola sul Mare” – a very appropriate name given the rest of the day. From here, we took a path that, drawing a large loop of about 17 kilometres, led us to the Argentea Refuge and to the summit of Monte Rama, at an altitude of 1,150 metres. The experience was particularly positive for two main reasons. Firstly, I had never been to the Ligurian Apennines. The environment I found there impressed me a lot, right from the panorama visible from the road I drove along to get to the meeting point. I have been told that State Road 73 is one of the most beautiful roads in the Ligurian hinterland and I have no reason to believe otherwise, so much so that I intend to cycle it again as soon as I can. Finally, it was the weather conditions of the day that contributed decisively to my absolute fascination with the places I visited. The whole route offered an incredible panorama: behind us, the clear sky allowed our gaze to embrace the entire snow-covered Alpine tops, while in front, just below us, the coast and the whole sea were covered by an expanse of low clouds. When we reached the top of Monte Rama, the effect was incredible, so much so that we had the impression of being on board an aircraft at a height of a few thousand meters.

On the way back, the sunset was no less impressive as the sea of clouds, pushed by the air, rose in altitude and flooded the plateau we were walking on.

All in all, this trek was challenging but full of more surprises than I expected. Not only that, it opened my mind to the beauty of the Ligurian hinterland, which I hope to visit again soon.
