Nel corso della Seconda Guerra Mondiale furono svilupparti dai belligeranti una serie di veicoli che, in non pochi casi, entrarono in un immaginario collettivo vivo ancora oggi. L’esempio più rappresentativo è certamente la Jeep “Willys”, vero e proprio simbolo delle forze armate americane e della liberazione dal nazifascismo. Benché meno famoso presso il grande pubblico, un altro veicolo altrettanto iconico è la Volkswagen Typ 82 “Kubelwagen”. Dai deserti dell’Africa Settentrionale fino alle gelide steppe della Russia, la “Kubelwagen”, sotto forma delle varianti che si susseguirono nel tempo, accompagnò l’esercito tedesco per tutta la durata dell’ultimo conflitto mondiale facendosi apprezzare per prestazioni, robustezza ed affidabilità. Nel corso della guerra, furono costruiti dall’industria bellica tedesca più di 55.000 esemplari di Volkswagen Typ 82 “Kubelwagen” ma, nonostante questo, il fuoristrada tedesco è assai raro ed ogni esemplare sopravvissuto fino ad oggi ha un notevole valore storico.

Ho avuto modo di ammirare una folta rappresentanza di “Kubelwagen” alle edizioni del Militracks a cui ho partecipato. Più recentemente, grazie ad un evento dedicato ai rievocatori storici che si è tenuto a giugno sotto l’egida del Museo della Seconda Guerra Mondiale del Fiume Po, ho potuto non solo vedere ma anche salire su un bell’esemplare di “Kubelwagen” di proprietà di un socio del museo. Qui di seguito mostro le foto che, grazie alla cortesia del proprietario, ho potuto scattare in tale occasione e che spero siano di gradimento ad appassionati e modellisti.

Ho recentemente saputo che questa “Kubelwagen” è stata venduta. Felicitazioni al nuovo proprietario!

In the course of the Second World War, many vehicles developed by the belligerents were entered the collective imagination that is still alive today. The most representative example is certainly the Jeep “Willys”, a true symbol of the American armed forces and the liberation from Nazi-Fascism. Although less famous among the public, another similarly iconic vehicle is the Volkswagen Typ 82 “Kubelwagen”. From the deserts of North Africa to the icy steppes of Russia, the “Kubelwagen” accompanied the German army throughout the Second World War and was appreciated for its performance, toughness and reliability. In the course of the war, more than 55,000 Volkswagen Typ 82 “Kubelwagen” were built by the German war industry but, despite this, this off-road vehicle is very rare and every example survived to this day has remarkable historical value.

I have had the opportunity to admire a large number of ”Kubelwagen” at Militracks 2018 and 2019. More recently, thanks to an event dedicated to historical reenactors held in June under the patronages of the Museo della Seconda Guerra Mondiale del Fiume Po, I was able not only to see but also to ride in a beautiful exemplar of a “Kubelwagen” owned by a museum member. Below I show the pictures which, thanks to the owner’s courtesy, I took and which I hope will be liked by enthusiasts and modellers.
